Ljubljana Musical Youth is non-profit, non-governmental organisation founded in 1964 by conductor Ciril Cvetko. The first organisation of its type in Slovenia, it organises musical performances for young people, including Music Cultural Days at schools, traditional Autumn Serenades, opera performances and orchestral concerts with commentaries, both in Ljubljana and elsewhere in Slovenia. Over the past two years it has organised around 450 concerts and musical events, and similar organisations have been established in Maribor and some other towns. Along with 15 other organisations, Ljubljana Musical Youth is a member of Jeunesses Musicales International (JMI), Slovenia and a principal driving force of development. In 1989 the organisation established 'Veter' Mixed Youth Choir.
Ljubljana Musical Youth has published a collection of notations of songs for school choirs, as well as the audio CDs Mikrokozmos ('Veter' choir songs) and Autumn Serenades - 30 years of Glasbena mladina ljubljanska.
In 2010, in collaboration with Radio Slovenia and Grafenauer Publishing House, the choir recorded a collection of poems by Niko Grafenauer about the popular little rascal, Pedenjped. The songs were written by composers such as Karol Pahor, Borut Lesjak, Peter Šavli, Tadeja Vulc, Črt Sojar Voglar, Matevž Goršič, and Aldo Kumar, recipient of a Prešeren Award in 2010.
