In 2002 twelve municipalities in the Koroška region of Slovenia signed an agreement to constitute one Koroška Regional Museum which merged the Koroška Regional Museum Slovenj Gradec and the Koroška Museum, Ravne na Koroškem and all the museums' units and sites. Management of the museum moved to the administrative building of the Ravne Steelworks in 2003.
