The Multimedia Institute and Academy (IAM) was established in 2000 first as 2-year multimedia education programme with the aim of facilitating research and development of formal and informal education in the field of multimedia. It does so by applying modern telecommunication technologies and methods and an interactive system of distance learning whereby theory is effectively put into practice. In 2010 IAM College of multimedia upgraded the existing 2-year multimedia education programme into a 3-year BA programme (with first generation taking place in the school year 2013/2014) according to European education standards and the Bologna declaration as well ascontuining integrating its programmes actively into the national education scape. IAM, along with the School of Audio Engineering (SAE) Institute, is recognised as one of the leading institutions in the field.
IAM offers a range of professional programmes in Multimedia Engineering, which have been endorsed by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia (GZS) and the Professional Council for Education of the Republic of Slovenia. It offers BA programmes in Media Production Management and (periodically) Photography, which are validated and co-conducted by Middlesex University London. Modern facilities with a lecture room, seminar, computer, and montage rooms afford students ample room for individual and group work.
International cooperation
To date a number of international experts and students have participated in the research activities and programmes IAM offers. It also competes in the Digital Media section of the Imagine Cup – the world's largest international student technology competition.
