Originally established in 1946 as the Photo-Kino Union of Slovenia, the Photographic Federation of Slovenia unites around 40 Slovene photographic clubs, including the award-winning FK Anton Ažbe Škofja Loka, FK AT Canon Ljubljana, FD Celje, FD Grča Kočevje, FD Janez Puhar Kranj, FD Jesenice, FK Jesenice, FK Maribor, FK Medicus Ljubljana, FK Nova Gorica, FD Radovljica and FK Tržič.

The FZS is a member of the International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP).
