Center Rog

From Culture.si

Center Rog is a production space and creative hub founded by the Municipality of Ljubljana in 2021, bringing together traditional craftsmanship and contemporary innovation under the concept of creative industries. Located in the renovated former Tovarna Rog bicycle factory and opened in 2023, it is organised around a network of workshops where members can learn to use a wide range of tools and technologies across nine specialised labs, including the Textile Lab, Wood Lab, Metal Lab, and Food Lab. The complex also features nineteen project studios and five residential apartments, which regularly host international artists, researchers, and lecturers.

Facilities

The centre also houses a branch of the Ljubljana City Library, a large exhibition and event hall, a café, bistro, restaurant, the renowned commercial gallery Galerija Fotografija, and several shops offering local design products. Center Rog is situated in the vibrant pedestrian zone on the bank of the Ljubljanica river.

Background

The history of the site – where a former bicycle factory was transformed into the autonomous social and cultural centre Rog in 2006 – is described in the archival article Tovarna Rog.
