The [[Rihard Jakopič Award]] is named after Rihard Jakopič, an important Slovene impressionist painter who worked at the beginning of the 20th century. It is the highest award in the field of fine arts in Slovenia. The award is bestowed annually to a Slovene fine artist who lives and works in Slovenia or abroad for his best recent work, exhibition or project. Candidates may be nominated by a cultural institution, by a fine arts association, by the [[Slovene Academy of Sciences and Arts (SAZU)]], by the [[Ministry of Culture]], or by an individual. In 2009 [[Tadej Pogačar]] of [[P.A.R.A.S.I.T.E. Institute]] was selected out of 9 candidates for the project ''CODE:RED'',  a research of the parallel informal economies. The recent recepients are the painters [[Berko]] (2010) and [[Zmago Lenardič]] (2011).

Named after Rihard Jakopič (1869–1943), an important Slovene impressionist painter, the Rihard Jakopič Award is the highest award in the field of fine arts in Slovenia. Since 1969 it is bestowed annually to a Slovene artist, who lives and works in Slovenia or abroad, and is a member of the Slovenian Association of Fine Arts Societies (ZDSLU). The artist is prized for his/her life opus or the artistic achievements of the last 5 years and receives remuneration and a solo exhibition in one of Ljubljana's esteemed galleries.
