The Dane Zajc Writers' Studio
The apartment on Praprotnikova ulica (a 10-minute walk from the city centre) measures around 50 square metres, and comprises 2 bedrooms, a kitchen, a bathroom and an enclosed glass balcony. The studio got its name from and holds some traces of the former tenant, the poet Dane Zajc, who lived and worked here for some years at the end of his life.
Dane Zajc (1929–2015) is considered to be one of Slovenia's most significant poets of the 20th century and one of Slovenia's central playwright figures. He made his debut in 1958 with a collection of neo-expressionist poetry Požgana trava (Burnt Grass). He published 9 more volumes of poetry, and also made his name as a writer of lyrical drama.
Application
The open call for the applications is usually published in early autumn. Applications must be submitted in Slovenian, English or Bosnian-Croatian-Montenegrin-Serbian language. The applicants should submit a CV and a short project proposal mentioning the preferred month of the residence.
