The central cultural venue run by municipal Cultural and Recreational Centre Hrastnik is the Delavski dom Hrastnik that includes also the local cinema hall. Another venue is the Youth Centre Hrastnik.

The Rdeči revirji! - Red Beats! Festival has been organised by Vitkar Institute in the three main towns of the Zasavje since 2003. The festival presents annually a high-profile programme of contemporary dance, theatre and street theatre, circus, puppetry, site-specific urban space interventions, story-telling evenings and concerts, exhibitions and film screenings.
