Mission and projects
The Russian Centre in Maribor is one of 73 similar world-wide institutions, likewise founded by the Russkiy Mir Foundation. Setting this collaboration in motion was spurred by the successful candidacy of the city of Maribor for the European Capital of Culture 2012.
The centre offers access to Russian literature, multimedia, textbooks, newspapers, and television programmes. Its opening was accompanied by the exhibition The First in Space [Prvi v vesolju], dedicated to the 50th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin's first flight to space. The exhibition was shown also in Ljubljana and Nova Gorica.
