Established in 1986, Zasavje Museum serves the three municipalities of Zasavje: Trbovlje, Zagorje and Hrastnik. Housed in a 19th-century Trbovlje burgher house, the main museum holds a large collection on the development of mining in the region. In 1996, the upper floor was converted into a gallery to house the museum's fine arts collection, mostly of works by sculptor Stojan Batič (1925–2015), including his Miners' and Explosion Cycles.

The Zasavje Museum public institution also manages the Hrastnik Museum and the Memorial House of the Founding Congress of the Communist Party of Slovenia in Čebine and offers visits to the in situ miners' housing collection in the former miners' colony Njiva.
