The Sector for Arts within the Creativity Directorate, Ministry of Culture covers performing arts, music arts, dance, visual arts, architecture and design, and intermedia arts (new media).

It provides guidelines and regulations, and prepares the calls for cultural institutions and non-governmental organisations working in these fields.

For the period 2014–2017 the 32 organisations have been selected for the programme support (12 organisations from the field of music, 8 performing arts organisations, 7 organisations engaged in architecture, design or visual arts, and 5 organisations from the field of intermedia (new media art). The ministry announces also a call for a 2-year support for cultural projects (e.g. festivals) and an annual project call for smaller producers or individuals.

Funding related to literature and publishing has been performed by the Slovenian Book Agency, while the national cultural programme in the sphere of film is implemented by the Slovenian Film Centre.

-The Directorate for Arts covers the following fields: performing arts, music arts, dance, visual arts, architecture and design, and intermedia arts. The sector within the Directorate is a Sector for the Book and Libraries.The Directorate provides guidelines and regulations, and follows the development of the internal and European legislation in the field of arts, co-operating with local and international governmental and non-governmental organisations, associations, their working bodies and individuals. The Directorate also co-operates with other ministries and public institutions on common projects and prepares proposals for materials for the government and consulting bodies of the [[European Commission]] and the European Council. It forms opinions on proposals and developmental projects, sets up criteria for co-financing programmes and projects and comments on analysis, information and reports for its organisational units. The Directorate participates in public institution boards, foundations and project groups for investment projects. It prepares annual or long-term plans for co-financing cultural programmes and projects, including the financing stages. The Directorate covers European cultural programmes and monitors projects financed through European structural funds. It co-operates on projects and aspects of regionalisation and monitors the effects. It also evaluates the legal and economic aspects of public funding expenditure in the field of arts. It assists in shaping common databases and communicating with the public according to regulations. Special tasks performed by the Directorate include monitoring the creation and distribution of cultural goods, employment and self-employment, defining the public interest, international co-operation, education, training and infrastructural conditions. It co-ordinates social instruments in the field of culture (self-employment, extra pensions), grant and funding distribution and training in the field of culture. The Directorate manages regulations related to organisations in the public interest, ie associations, institutions, non-profit private institutions and public institutions at state, municipal and local level. It also issues reference letters for citizenship for candidates in the arts field. The Directorate for Arts runs the activities of the [[Prešeren Award and Prešeren Foundation Awards]] secretariat. It also enables access to complex information on the situation of the arts in Slovenia.
