The now widely-acclaimed Trnovo Tercets is the biggest international poetry gathering in Ljubljana. The beginnings of the festival reach back to 1994, when KUD France Prešeren first organised the event in collaboration with the Slovene Writers’ Association. The most renowned Slovene poets spanning several generations have given readings of their poetry at Tercets, including Tone Pavček, Tomaž Šalamun, Milan Dekleva, and Uroš Zupan. Since 2000 the event has also featured prominent poets from abroad: Martin Lopez Vega (Spain), Ciaran O'Driscoll (Ireland), and Pavel Zajíček (the Czech Republic) to name a few. To date, more than 160 poets have presented their works. Readings are held on three consecutive nights, each of which features three Slovene or foreign poets (around 45 minutes each). All appearances are recorded, and the archives thus obtained are unique in Slovenia.
