Course of competition
Following an opening concert, each year around 20 choirs compete for gold, silver, and bronze plaques and diplomas at four competition concerts, which usually culminate in a final concert by the best choirs. After each concert, a so called CEZURA! Time for choral talk is organised. It is usually led by recognised conductors and the conversation usually covers choral trends, preparations for the competition, international competitions, concert programmes, and so on. There are 5 jury members each year, 3 of them are Slovene.
Obligatory programme
The obligatory programme for participants mustn't be longer than 16 minutes and has to include two original Slovene choral compositions, a motet, and a piece of choice. One of the pieces can be performed with instrumental accompaniment, solos are allowed in reasonable lengths.
Since 2004 the competition has been followed by a programme entitled 'A Totally Different Song', which features innovative approaches to singing.
