As the owner of Kolosej Ljubljana, a multiplex cinema with 12 halls (and 3312 seats) in Ljubljana, Kolosej Cinemas (Kolosej kinematografi Ltd.) is the largest Slovene exhibition trade company in regards to the number of sold tickets. (The company with the largest number of cinema halls is Planet Tuš Cinemas.) In addition, Kolosej Cinemas also manages Kolosej Koper, Kolosej Maribor and Kolosej De Luxe Kranj; Kolosej Celje was recently closed. The average number of spectators in all of the Kolosej cinemas is approximately 150,000 per month.
The Kolosej venues present mostly Hollywood film productions, however European, Asian and art film production also features in their programme – e.g., at the Kino Komuna, the only cinema hall in the centre of Ljubljana run by Kolosej Cinemas. Kolosej Cinemas co-presents the film that receives the Dragon Award at the Ljubljana International Film Festival (LIFFe).
High technological standards are maintained in all the halls, and two halls at Kolosej Ljubljana have a THX certificate. Kolosej Cinemas also owns the XpanD cinema hall which is specially equipped for 3D film screenings. Several halls are equipped with an LCD projector and conference sound equipment.
Kolosej Cinemas opened a multiplex in Belgrade, Serbia, in 2007. Plans are also underway for a centre in Bucharest, Romania.
