The Institute has developed its own databases which aims to cover Slovene music production and reproduction scene focusing on folk music and serious music in Slovenia, the music of European nations and national minorities, as well as popular music.
The onlin database of Slovene folk music covers traditional folk music, folklore groups and arranged music, while the database of Slovene classical music presents composers as well as players or singers. The database was compiled by musicologists Franc Križnar and Jasna Vidakovič who got the Štrekelj Award in 2007.
