The gazette ''Bilten SUZD'' is a serial publication that is issued five times a year in electronic form. Short scientific papers are reviewed. Another bulletin ''Library SUZD'' is conceived in 1997 to publish papers from conferences of Slovene art historians.

[[Izidor Cankar]] was next to [[France Stele]] and [[Vojislav Mole]] one of the founders of the Slovene art history profession. The society researches and promotes Slovenian and world art history and helps to protect cultural heritage. It bestows the [[Izidor Cankar Award]] biennially since 1999 for professionals, individuals or groups from Slovenia or abroad who have made significant contributions in the field of Slovene art history. It is a member of the International Committee of the History of Arts (CIHA).

Published once a year, the Art History Journal presents the recent research results of art historians dealing with topics in Slovene or international (especially regional) art history as well as the best articles of the students at the Department of Art History, University of Ljubljana.

This scientific peer-reviewed journal has one of the longest traditions among Slovene art history publications. The publishing stopped for a brief period of time near the end of the Second World War and for a few years after the war. In 1951 the numbering of each issue of the journal re-started from the beginning.
