The Academy of Design in Ljubljana is an independent institution of higher education established in [[established::2005]]. A study programme of Interior design, Visual communications, and Textiles and fashion design was conceived in accordance with the Bologna declaration standards following the example of comparable European programmes. During academic year a number of workshops, guest lectures of professors from foreign partner institutions as well as student and staff exchange take place. During 2008-2010 the Academy of Design has participated in international events with institutions from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Estonia, Germany, Netherlands, Scotland, Serbia, Switzerland and Russia.

Up to 2010 according to the Erasmus University Charter 12 students have studied abroad, while 8 have done their training programme in different EU countries. On the other hand 12 members of Ljubljana teaching staff have taught abroad and 5 administrative employees have received additional training at foreign partner institutions.
