Revision as of 11:14, 12 August 2011
Originally launched as a section of the Problemi Journal called Problemi-Literatura [Literature], this magazine became autonomous in 1989 with the establishment of the Literatura Literary Artistic Association.
Since 1993 it has appeared monthly. Its editorial emphasis is on the presentation and commentary of new developments in contemporary Slovene as well as world literature. The sections in the magazine are: Poetry, Prose, Encyclopaedia of Living Writers (essays and theory), Interview, The Last Course (translation of new forms and contents), Translation, Revisor (critical texts on ideological models), Front Line and Marginal Notes (critiques).
Every year a thematic block of texts is dedicated to a certain author (e.g., Derrida, Deleuze, Perec, Ashbery, de Man) or genre (science fiction, criminal novels) or issue (such as women's writing, erotic literature, literature and esoterica, new historicism). The 50th anniversary issue of Literatura presented contributions to Slovene literature by 11 authors, and an analysis of the state of Slovene literature and its perspectives.
The table of contents of each number is available at magazine's official website. Registered users can also access full articles online.
