Background
The name Speculum Artium is related to the statement of Peter Weibel: "... there is a highly sophisticated relationship between art and politics which can be expressed as the speculum artium, or the mirror of art".
First held in the City Art Gallery Ljubljana the festival was permanently moved in 2009 to Delavski dom Trbovlje. It was organised by the Academy of Fine Arts and Design, ArtNetLab, the Faculty of Computer and Information Science, University of Ljubljana, Trbovlje, The New Media Setting and Delavski dom Trbovlje Cultural Centre, the former being in charge of the organisation since 2010.
