About
Boris Balant studied art history and ran Škuc Gallery from 1986 to 1987. After studying design at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana, he briefly collaborated with the design department Novi kolektivizem of the collective Neue Slowenische Kunst. From 1995–2008 he worked in LUKS Studio, which he established together with Lena Pislak. In 2009, he established the Atelje.Balant graphic design studio.

They use strategic design and branding to build audiences, by targeting the public, building social networks, users, and a critical mass of followers who engage in the language of their work. Ethically conscious, the studio only accepts projects they consider to be meaningful and right. The wide array of their various projects can be seen on their website (see External links below).
Among many recognitions, Human1st received the award for designing the most beautiful Slovenian book (Constructivism and Kosovel) at the 2015 editions of Slovene Book Fair.
In 2014, human1st launched Centre01, a platform for Slovenian designers and entrepreneurs with co-funding from the Republic of Slovenia and the European Union under the European Regional Development Fund.
