Current projects
The key project in which the Institute of Cultural History has been involved is The New Slovene Biographic Lexicon. The first volume (A–) appears in 2011–2012. The project is a continuation of the Slovene Biographic Lexicon project that resulted in 15 books with around 5,000 articles covering the period 1925–1991, a rich archive of biographical data on Slovene personalities and also some personalities abroad related to Slovene culture. It had been prepared by various organisations, the forerunners of the Institute of Cultural History and the Institute of Slovene Literature and Literary Sciences.
Further important projects include Lives and Works – biographical and bibliographical studies, and the Slovene bio-bibliographical database in electronic format (up to 2007 containing details of about 12.800 personalities). The Institute of Cultural History collects and updates its data, develops new ways of presenting it, and prepares interdisciplinary methodological studies and comparative studies.
