The interactive Lipizzaner Museum Lipikum was opened at the Equestrian Park Lipica in 2011. It complements the visitors' experience by a set of attractive displays presenting the origins of a horse species, the horse-related mythical creatures invented by men, the Lipizzaner breed, its life-cycle, and the Lipica Stud Farm's history. An interesting feature is also a map locating the operating Lipizzaner stud farms in the world.

Background

The museum is a final result of the 2005 Lipica Museum Project funded by the Norwegian Financial Mechanism, the EEA Financial Mechanism, and the Ministry of Culture. The permanent exhibition was conceived by Taja Vovk van Gaal (otherwise the leader of the academic project team of the House of European History in Brussels) and interpreted by architect Sanja Jurca Avci. The content was contributed also by the Goriška Museum, Technical Museum of Slovenia and Slovenian Museum of Natural History.
