SVEA Zagorje Brass Orchestra originated in 1861 with the Zagorje Brass Band Orchestra which, after many years of development and change, emerged as one of most popular brass orchestras in Slovenia. In the 1980s the orchestra received a gold medal at the world championship in Kerkrade, Netherlands, and in 1992 it appeared successfully in competition at Bamberg, Germany. Since that time the band has performed numerous concerts in the former Yugoslav republics and in Norway, Spain, Italy (1996 in the Vatican), Austria, Russia and Poland (2000 at the Wieliczka Salt Mine). Its repertoire is extensive and ranges from Bohemian Rhapsody to blues, pop and rock music.
SVEA Zagorje Brass Orchestra recently received the Golden Bird Award for its CD Film, Blues and Pop Rock.
