In 1946 the collections of two smaller libraries dating from the early 20th century were brought together to form the [[Logatec Library]]. The first professional staff member was employed only in 1982. Up to 1987 the library was housed at National House, then it moved into newly-built premises adjacent to this building. In the period 1990-1995 the library was part of Logatec Municipality, but since 1995 it has been an autonomous public institution. Since 1996 library stock has been searchable via the [[COBISS - Slovene Virtual Library]] system. The library comprises 556 square metres of space with 25 seats in the reading room. It offers Internet access to visitors and is an important IT centre for the region. Logatec Library also has branches in Ravne, Hotedrščica and Vrh sv Treh Kraljev. Its registered readership is 2,815 (25 per cent of population) and its collection comprises more than 53,000 items.
