In 2015, the film Stories from the Chestnut Woods by Gregor Božič got development support of the Creative Europe Media fund. A coproduction with the crossborder Slovene-Italian Transmedia Production House, the film is based on three short stories by Anton Chekhov, and on selected recordings of folk traditions from the Friulian Slavia and Kanalski Kolovrat regions. It addresses the phenomenon of mass emigration by the young and the consequent desolation of parts of the world.
In production are also three upcoming films – Playing Men, a creative documentary by the emerging author Matjaž Ivanišin. The film will follow an ancient finger game of morra and its social context across the Mediterranean region. The Road, a low-budget travelogue by the documentary director Darko Sinko.
Marina Gumzi
After studying dramaturgy in Ljubljana and Berlin, she worked as a freelance Theatre and Film dramaturge. In 2011, after she had completed her postgraduate programme at Atelier Ludwigsburg – Paris for Young European Film Producers she took over Nosorogi. In the same year, she was appointed the head manager for film within Maribor 2012 – European Capital of Culture. During the 17. Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival she was selected to participate in the Emerging Producers 2014 project. She was also part of an EAVE (European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs) training, as well as the Rotterdam Lab a year later.
