Fičo Balet

Fičo Balet is an artist-led company founded in 2000 by Goran Bogdanovski and a core group of artistic collaborators and dancers. The group performs in original and unconventional ways, striving to transform classical and academic dance-styles into inspiring, understandable, and accessible performances enabling new experiences of art. As a member of the Nomad Dance Academy, Fičo Balet co-operated in the production of two short videos for World Dance Day on 29 April 2009 with the motto: "Go out and dance!".

Fičo Balet's dance and theatre projects aim to reflect the "emotional landscape of the everyday". Combining playfulness and skill, Fičo Balet redefines dance virtuosity. Since its establishment, Fičo Ballet has created many performances, among others also 1:0 (2000), Sweat and Soot (2001), I:move (2003), Emofad – Emotivity of Adventure (2003), Confi-dance (2004), Edge of Eden (2005), and Sun City (2006/07). In April 2008, JOHN, premièred at Joyce SOHO, New York City. Fičo Balet also produces theatre performances aimed at younger audiences.

Fičo Balet has collaborated with the Nomad Dance Academy, for the NOMAD Education Programme 2008 launched by the Balkan Dance Network. This initiative is dedicated to providing practical and theoretical knowledges from the field of performing arts and enabling artistic exchange between 12 emerging contemporary dancers from the Balkans in order to create a network for future artistic collaborations. Other partners include Eks Scena, Croatia; Tala Dance Center, Croatia; Station – Service for Contemporary Dance, Serbia; Lokomotiva – Center for New Initiatives in Arts and Culture, Macedonia; and the Brain Store Project, Bulgaria.

Attempting to bring democracy to high art, Fičo Balet also provides an on-going, weekly training to "any body" interested in movement and dance as well as gives workshops and lectures.
