In 2011 the Danish Ballet Director Frank Andersen was invited by the [[Slovene National Theatre Opera and Ballet Ljubljana]] to stage in Ljubljana a new production of the romantic ballet classic ''La Sylphides'', of which only the version choreographed in 1836 by Danish Ballet Director August Bournonville was preserved till today. The ballet premièred in March 2011 at [[Cankarjev dom, Cultural and Congress Centre|Cankarjev dom]].

Next to its diplomatic representative and consular function the Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark in Slovenia also performs some activities in the field of arts and culture. The embassy have been supporting Slovene producers who cooperate with Danish artists and designers or initiatives and co-organises some bilateral cultural cooperation events.


Selected cultural projects

In May 2010 in cooperation with the Municipality of Ljubljana the Embassy of Denmark organised the exhibition Dreams on Wheels, which was on display at the Magistrat Gallery in the City Hall's atrium. It showcased Danish cycling tradition, bicycle design, and urban planning.
