The Festival of Monodrama, Ptuj is a competitive festival: an elected selector carefully observes the production of monodrama stagings over the span of two seasons, choosing only the best 5 to 7 performances by institutional theatres and by professional actors in non-institutional productions. As a traditional festival, Monodrama Ptuj has been gaining major importance for actors working on such projects, as this is one of the rare European festivals dedicated solely to the actor. The competitive part of the festival is reserved for Slovene actors, as there is no way to detach the importance of the language and the narrative from a monologue. | The Festival of Monodrama, Ptuj is a competitive festival: an elected selector carefully observes the production of monodrama stagings over the span of two seasons, choosing only the best 5 to 7 performances by institutional theatres and by professional actors in non-institutional productions.
The festival has thus far hosted monodrama performances by Café Teater, Imaginarni Institute, EPI Centre, Rozinteater, Koper Theatre, Ptuj City Theatre, Ljubljana City Theatre (MGL), Slovene People’s Theatre (SLG) Celje, etc.
