Archival article

Modrijan Publishing House was founded in 1996 by Branimir Nešović, a historian who had worked as a history textbooks editor as well as a journalist. First Modrijan published primarily textbooks for elementary and secondary education, including lexicons and dictionaries. Later the programme was enriched: starting with some works from classical antiquity, a programme of history books up to now includes several books on Slovene history. Since 2004 the Modrijan Publishing House has issued a line of literary and theoretical texts by contemporary authors as well, especially contemporary prose in translation. Initially comprising 3 to 4 books per year, the number of publications has grown to around 80 new titles. In 2008 the Euroman series of 27 novels was launched.

In 2009, Modrijan Bookshop in Ljubljana was opened. It was closed in spring 2016. Books can be ordered from the online bookstore on the Modrijan website.

Twice a year Modrijan Publishing House publishes Modrijan, a richly illustrated catalogue in a newspaper format (in 99,000 copies) that promotes authors and titles published by the house but also brings news from the literary world (in Slovenian).
