International Center for Puppetry Arts Koper (called also MCLU, i.e. Mednarodni center lutkovne umetnosti Koper) was established in 2005 when the activities of the Lutkarnica Puppetry Studio at the Mladinska 6 in Koper-Capodistria have been expanded. The founder was Maja Bavdaž Gross who has been active in puppetry for more than three decades (also the co-founder of Papilu Puppet Theatre).

The center produces also performances by Nika Solce and the puppet theatre Teatro matita, co-organise the Alpe Adria PUF Festival and organise the annual ethno workshop week "Etno Histria". They regularly collaborate with Hobbit Theatre from Wurzburg, Germany.

At the Lutkarnica Studio the MCLU produces various performances, organises workshops for small and school-aged children, and also holds seminars for teachers.
