Slovene National Theatre Maribor


One of three state-owned theatres in Slovenia, the Slovene National Theatre Maribor was established as a professional theatre in 1919. It is organised into five units: Drama, Opera, Ballet, Symphony orchestra, and the annual festival of Slovene theatre, the Maribor Theatre Festival.

SNG Maribor is a member of PERSPECTIV - Association of Historic Theatres in Europe and is included in the European Route of Historic Theatres.

The Academic Choir Tone Tomšič (APZ Tone Tomšič) is a long-established, versatile and internationally successful choir, mostly made up of students from the University of Ljubljana. Up until today it featured more than 1,600 singers.

The choir has performed in almost all European countries, in North and South America, in Africa and Asia (for example, in Korea with conductor Stojan Kuret). They have twice returned home with the Grand Prix from the European Grand Prix for Choral Singing: in 2002 (conductor Stojan Kuret) and in 2008 (conductor Urša Lah).
