The city of Maribor won the prestigious European Capital of Culture title in 2008 with an ambitious regional proposal that mobilised 5 partner cities in Slovenia (Murska Sobota, Ptuj, Slovenj Gradec, Novo mesto and Velenje). Some of the programme was co-organised with the Portuguese town of Guimarães, another European Capital of Culture in 2012.

Festivals in Slovenia 2012

Festivals in slovenia 2012.jpgThe printed version of the calendar of Festivals in Slovenia in 2012 contains 141 festivals. Later on, in 2019, the festival number rose to 199. Check out the current annual festivalscape!

This interactive calendar includes those festivals from the Culture.si database that have provided their dates. They are arranged by weeks. You can complement the above infographic with the timeline of festivals, which reveals the dynamics of establishing new festivals in Slovenia (1946–2011).
