State-funded scholarships
The Ministry of Labour, Family and Social Affairs offers scholarships of different amounts to candidates coming from socially and financially disadvantaged family backgrounds. Every year in June, the ministry publishes an open call to grant state-funded scholarships, although the candidates applying for the first time can send the application throughout the whole year. The application and selection process is carried out under the appropriate branch of the Centre for Social Work.
Eligibility
Those who are eligible to apply include Slovene citizens, members of the Slovene diaspora, citizens of countries in the European Union, citizens of the European Economic Area (EEA), and citizens of third-world countries with a temporary or permanent residence permit in Slovenia. The age limit of candidates is 26 years for students and 18 for secondary school pupils.
The scholarships are granted for all fields of study offered by Slovene universities and high schools. Priority is given to citizens of countries with bilateral agreements or countries with which direct reciprocal exchange of government scholarships exists, and to applicants who have already established contacts with Slovene university institutions or departments that are willing to accept them for the proposed term.
