Background
Mini Theatre has organised the Festival of Medieval and Renaissance Music since 2003 along with the traditional Medieval Day in Ljubljana in collaboration with the Festival Ljubljana Public Institute, the Early Music Society Radovljica and the Ljubljana Tourist Board. The festival takes place mostly at the Ljubljana Castle, as well as some other open-air locations (at Prešeren Square, in Zvezda Park, etc).
Programme
Each year the Festival of Medieval and Renaissance Music features virtuoso performances by chamber music ensembles such as Tasto Solo (Spain), Gallus Consort (Italy) and Musica Cubicularis (Slovenia) as well as solo performances by musicians, such as the flautist Norbert Rodenkirchen. The musicians play on early instruments and focus on rendering a historically informed performance. The music repertoire includes songs, madrigals, and instrumental works by international and Slovene composers such as Girolamo Dalla Casa, Giovanni Bassano, I. Gallus, G. Prenner, and G. Puliti.
