The Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia Copenhagen was opened in 1999 as an official representative body of the Slovene Government to the Kingdom of Denmark. Since 2012 the embassy covers the Nordic-Baltic region with more than 30 million inhabitants, making it the single Slovenian embassy in the region. The Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Copenhagen is official representation of Slovenia in the Kingdom of Denmark, Republic of Iceland, Kingdom of Norway, Kingdom of Sweden, and Republic of Finland.

Cultural cooperation

Design

Slovenia commemorated its 20th anniversary of independence in 2011, and on this occasion the Embassy in Copenhagen organised a donation of the renowned Rex armchairs by Niko Kralj to Designmuseum Danmark, which has devoted its collections to the most famous national design trademarks. Dating back from 1952, the Rex collection has also presented at the Museum of Architecture and Design in Ljubljana.

Music

In 2012 the Embassy supported a performance of violoncellist Nika Brnič together with the quartet Inegal at Langholtskirkja church in Reykjavίk, which is famous for its classical and contemporary music concerts, also by Björk, Iceland's most well-known voice. The same year, violinist Miha Pogačnik held a lecture on the relation between art and economy and presented Maribor, European Capital of Culture 2012.

In summer 2013 Emona Folklore Group promoted traditional dances and held several concerts at venues in Finland.

Language and education

Slovenian language is being taught at a lectureship at the Philological Faculty in Vilnius in Lithuania, an activity long-supported by the embassy. For children of Slovene ex-pats in Denmark, the embassy actively promotes and supports the introduction of Slovenian language courses in Copenhagen.
