Awards include the Smrekar Award for Lifetime Achievement, award for best illustration, Smrekar plaques and special mentions for innovative approach and original drawing, as well as an award for the best young creator.
Awarded artists
The Smrekar Award for Lifetime Achievement has previously been bestowed to Marlenka Stupica, Ančka Gošnik Godec, Jelka Šubert Reichman, Marija Vogelnik, Milan Bizovičar, Marjanca Jemec Božič. In 2008 it went to Štefan Planinc and in 2010 to Melita Štih Vovk.
The Smrekar Award for best illustration has been awarded to Marija Lucija Stupica (2x), Dušan Muc, Rudi Skočir, Zvonko Čoh, Jelka Godec Schmidt, Alenka Sottler, Kostja Gatnik in 2008 and Danijel Demšar in 2010.
