Bevk Perović Arhitekti was founded in 1997 by Matija Bevk and Vasa J. Perović. In addition to creating award-winning architectural projects, Bevk-Perović Arhitekti also runs the T-5 Project Space which is a regular venue for the PechaKucha Night events in Ljubljana.

The firm's most renowned architectural projects include various housing in Ljubljana's neighbourhoods of Polje, Šiška, and Mostec; the Ob Rinži Elementary School in Kočevje (Piranesi Award winner, 2003); the Royal Netherlands Ambassador's Residence (nomination for the Mies van der Rohe Prize, 2004); the Prototype Bus Shelter; the Faculty of Mathematics, University of Ljubljana (awarded the Mies van der Rohe Emerging Architect Special Mention, 2007); Student Housing at Poljanska cesta and Nove Poljane housing in Ljubljana (Plečnik Award, 2007); and the the Brdo Congress Hall in Kranj (2006-2007), which hosted the Slovenian Presidency of the European Union in 2008.



For their achievements in the period 2002–2004 they received the Prešeren Award, in 2006 they received the Kunstpreis Berlin – Förderungspreis Baukunst. In 2007 they received the 3rd prize at the competition for the renovation of Tovarna Rog into the Rog – Contemporary Art Centre Ljubljana, and in 2008 the 2nd prize at the competition for the Vienna School of Economics and the 1st prize for the Schrottenturm Office complex, Klagenfurt, Austria. Most recently they were awarded 1st prize in the 2010 competition for the university campus in Koper, Slovenia, and 1st prize for the Sončna vas (Sunny Village) housing project in Domžale, Slovenia.

Background

Matija Bevk graduated from the Faculty of Architecture, University of Ljubljana in 1999, while Vasa J. Perović graduated from the Faculty of Architecture in Belgrade and did a Masters degree at the Berlage Institute of Architecture in Amsterdam in 1992–1994.
