Delavnica Association, Festine and Festinice
The Delavnica Association was established in 2003 in order to contribute to the development of classical music in Slovenia and to stimulate the relationship between the listener and the musician.
Delavnica ("Workshop") organised concert cycles Festine in Lendava, Maribor and Ljubljana, and Festinice (in Ljubljana), and maintained two chamber orchestras: Festine and Musidora Ladies' Chamber Orchestra. At the time it offered cycles of thematically rounded-up concerts, performed by local and foreign artists with the participation of their younger colleagues. The programmes included rarely performed works of Slovene and foreign music literature. Another feature of the Festine cycle was the exploration of other forms of art, such as poetry, prose, and theatre that reveal different aspects of music and are unobtrusively integrated in the onstage performance.
International projects
In 2010 the Delavnica Association founded also the Delavnica Institute of Art and Culture Maribor to carry out international educational projects in the field of classical music, the Maribor International Orchestra 2012. The project got support of the EU Culture programme.
The project has been developed with international partners from the United Kingdom (MacLaurin Media Ltd and St John’s Smith Square), the Czech Republic (Narodni Divadlo Brno), Serbia (Balkan Urban Movement), Macedonia (Interkultura), Austria (KSŠŠG) and Slovenia (Glasbena Matica Ljubljana and Ljubljana Festival), with the support of musicians Branimir Slokar, Klaus Arp, Reinhold Friedrich and Wolfram Christ; and many other excellent soloist and distinguished pedagogues who joined the project.
