Founded in 1997 by Klemen Ramovš, the Ars Ramovš Institute for Art, Marketing, Promotion and Investment organises the Seviqc Brežice Festival, an internationally acclaimed early music festival which features eminent musicians and ensembles. Since 1982 the festival (firstly called Brežice Festival) has developed into an eminent European music event, with a significant educational dimension (working with music academies) and international scope (partner countries since 2002 have included: Italy, United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Czech Republic, France, Italy, and Spain).

The concerts take place at numerous castles, in churches or museums, promoting Slovene cultural heritage. Ars Ramovš has succeeded to draw funding from both national and municipal funds as well as from numerous sponsors and donators.


European networking

In 2004 Ars Ramovš got the grant of the Culture 2000 Programme of the European Commission together with co-organisers, Festival van Vlaanderen Antwerpen (BE) and Musica Antiqua Bolzano (IT), and associated partners RTV Slovenia (SI), Brežice Elementary School (SI), Musica Antica Bolzano (IT), the Concert Agency Zagreb – Festival ZABAF (HR), the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (AT) and the Koninklijk Conservatorium Den Haag (NL). The Seviqc Brežice Festival got the European Cultural Festivals Support in 2011.

From 2011 till 2013 Ars Ramovš collaborated in the EU-Project PurPur - the European Sound Interchange and its sequel PurPur - the European Opera Sound. The project was led by libitum Konzertwerkstatt GmbH in Villach/Beljak (AT) in collaboration with Ars Ramovš, Associazione Orchestra Sinfonica Guido d'Arezzo, Milan (IT), Festival Kvarner, Opatija (HR), NEO - New European Opera (FR). In September 2013 the Purpur Orchestra performed the Joseph Haydn's opera Orlando Paladino at the Knights' Hall of the Brežice Castle, in the framework of the Seviqc Brežice Festival.

In 2014 Eeemerging, a European project to support young early music ensembles, led by Ambronay Cultural Encounter Centre (FR) has been selected by Creative Europe for a 4 year support. Ars Ramovš is one of the partners and therefore in the years to come it is going to collaborate also with Ghislieri Musica in Pavia, Early Music Centre of the National University of Music of Bucharest, Göttingen International Handel Festival, National Centre for Early Music, York, Riga Early Music Centre and Ozango Productions in Strasbourg.

Membership

Ars Ramovš is a founding member of the Association of Slovene Festivals (SloFA), member of the REMA (Réseau Européen de musique ancienne (European Early Music Network; Klemen Ramovš works as the Coordinator of its South East Europe National Committee) and an active member of Centre for Information Service, Co-operation and Development of NGOs (CNVOS).
