The Puppetry Foundation (ULU) was established in 2001 by puppetry artists. ULU stimulates the development of puppetry in Slovenia through presentations and educational activities, and fosters international cooperation. It launched the Slovene Puppetry Biennial in 2001.

The current membership of the ULU comprises 22 puppetry creators, i.e. puppetry ensembles, puppet theatres, puppetry groups and individual puppeteers, among others Silvan Omerzu (Konj Puppet Theatre), Katja Povše (Miss Bazilika Narrative Theatre), Matija Solce (Teatro matita), Petra Stare and Andrej Štular (Nebo Puppet Theatre), etc.

Theatre education in schools

Puppetry Creators Institute (ULU) engages also in the national education programme. It established a catalogue of high quality theatre and puppet performances for different age groups with a special emphasis on interactivity. The main goal is to introduce performing arts to youngsters and involve them into the creative process.
