Contemporary dance Platform
Programme
The Contemporary Dance Platform is dedicated to presenting diverse approaches to dance as practised in Slovenia and abroad. It features works by both established and emerging artists, with a focus on tracing the contours of the national dance scene and articulating what connects and defines it, while also reflecting on the challenges that shape the development of contemporary dance. While remaining committed to supporting emerging local artists, the programme brings together contemporary dance performances, installations, interventions in public space, film, workshops, and round-table discussions, creating a context that extends beyond the stage.
The programme takes place across venues in Maribor, including the Maribor Puppet Theatre, Minorite Church, Maribor, Narodni dom Maribor, and Intimate Stage, GT22.
The festival is part of the Late Summer Festivals initiative, a joint platform that creates an alternative cultural map beyond the capital and invites audiences to embark on a summer festival “tour” across Slovenia. It brings together six festivals focused on dance, theatre and film taking place in late summer, including the Na knap Festival of Short Dance Form, Ukrep - Festival of Dance Perspectives, Front@ Contemporary Dance Festival, Mladi levi Festival, and the FeKK Ljubljana Short Film Festival.
