The Na knap Festival of Short Dance Form, founded in 2025 by the En-Knap Productions, is a contemporary dance festival that brings into dialogue dance on stage, on film, and in virtual reality. Conceived as a unique experiment, the festival explores what happens when these distinct media meet within a short, playful, and intense format. The short form here is not a limitation but a challenge – an opportunity to distill movement to its essence and invite audiences into concentrated encounters with dance in its many temporalities and technologies.
Venue and programme
The Na knap Festival is held anually at the Španski borci Culture Centre. Its innovation lies not only in combining different media but in how it curates their encounter. Screenings, live performances, and VR installations are woven into one temporal flow, allowing audiences to experience movement as a continuum — from the physical stage to digital space. This transmedial structure challenges conventional festival formats and redefines how dance can be experienced, archived, and discussed. Alongside a wide range of performances by international artists, Na knap also offers complementary activities, including dance workshops.
