In May 2010, the ''Fotografija'' magazine produced a series of free public discussions about the wider issues on the field of photography called ''Photography on a Sofa'' [Fotografija na kavču]. Launched in 1997 by the Association of Slovene Photographers, since 2010 the Fotografija, Magazine on Photography is published by Contemporary Culture and Science Institute (ZSKZ Ljubljana), two times per year Slovenian with English abstracts, while one full issue is published in Slovenian/English.

Submissions are accepted. Contributors are mostly Slovene photography theorists and critics, among them art historians or curators (Miha Colner, Vasja Nagy), visual artists (Polona Tratnik), literature writers (Matjaž Brulc, Nejc Gazvoda) or photographers (Meta Krese and Dejan Habicht).


Contents

Each number of the magazine features various themes offered to its readers within up to 12 chapters of different genres from the interview, exhibition and books reviews through theory and essay to short story that covers different kind of photography as fashion, digital, documentary, journalism photography. It features also topics about the Slovene photography and the history of photography. It also provides information about photography trainings or copyright issues.

Public discussions

The Fotografija magazine organises also free public discussions about the wider issues on the field of photography called Photography on a Sofa [Fotografija na kavču]. The 2010 edition included eleven talks between two experts from various fields took place at Kino Šiška Centre for Urban Culture, including Jože Vogrinc and Jure Eržen speaking about "War and media", Rajko Bizjak and Teo Rižnar on the "Optics, chemistry and electronics", Urša Chitrakar and Željko Stevanić discussing "Copyright and photography", and Lev Kreft and Vuk Ćosić adressing "New media".
