To date more than hundred people from around 30 countries have sat on BIO juries, including Wim Crouwel, Giancarlo Iliprandi, Tomás Maldonado, Edvard Ravnikar, Alan Fletcher and Czeslawa Frejlich.
Recent prizewinners
The 2010 edition was juried by Luigi Ferrara (Canada), Vivian Cheng Wai Kwan (Hong Kong), Malcolm Garrett (United Kingdom), Peter Krečič (Slovenia), and Sanna Simola (Finland) and three BIO 22 Gold Medals were bestowed to the Pipistrel Taurus Electro self-launching two-seat glider with retractable electric motor, designed by Ivo Boscarol and the Pipistrel company team (Slovenia), the Sky Planter inverted plant potdesigned by Patrick Morris, Boskke, Wellington (New Zealand), and the logomap and premiere posters for the City Theatre in Žilina, designed by Emil Drličiak and Pavel Choma (Slovakia).
The BIO 21 jury in 2008 consisted of Victor Margolin (USA), Vivian Cheng Wai Kwan (Hong Kong), Paulo Maldonado (Portugal), Iva Babaja (Croatia) and Johan Valcke (Belgium). The BIO 21 Gold Medal was bestowed to contemporary design of the Funicular Railway to Ljubljana Castle contributing to a dialogue between old and new. It was designed by Miha Kerin and Majda Kregar, Ambient (Slovenia) with the co-authors and produced by Garaventa AG with partners, Goldau, Switzerland for the Municipality of Ljubljana in 2006. The second BIO 21 Gold Medal was given to the mix of images and poetry with different printing techniques in the form of the Booklet for 40ish sheets of paper designed by Studio Cuculić (Croatia) for the Igepa Plana Papiri Ltd, Zagreb, Croatia, 2007.
