Dušan Teropšič
Teropšič began his dancing career in 1989, studying at Dance Studio Intakt, Ljubljana Dance Theatre (PTL), and various other international seminars and workshops. He was active for several years in folk dance at the France Marolt Academic Folklore Group and later studied martial arts. Teropšič's work is primarily based on physical theatre, intertwined with martial arts elements and different contemporary dance and sports techniques.
Performances
Apart from collaborating with various Slovene choreographers, Dušan Teropšič has created several dance performances of his own, including Flies [Muhe] (2000) and Swamp [Močvirje] (2001), produced by Ljubljana Dance Theatre (PTL), a dynamic dance performance for children Martin Krpan, produced by KUD Nor and co-produced by Cankarjev dom Culture and Congress Centre, based on the celebrated tale about the Slovene folk hero Martin Krpan, which was ingeniously complemented with props and costumes with humps and protuberances, highlighting the different attributes of characters.
In June 2008, KUD Nor co-produced Teropšič's performance The Event in the City [Dogodek v mestu], produced and presented at Glej Theatre, referring to Slavko Grum's The Event in the Town of Goga and reflecting through movement the author's experience of violence in the personal as well as the public realm.
