The [[Academy of Music]] comprises the Departments of Music Performance and Instruments (woodwinds, brass, strings, percussion, keyboard instruments), Conducting, Composition and Theory, Singing and Opera School, Church Music, and Music Teacher Training. The academy is situated in the impressive 17th century Stična Manor in the old centre of Ljubljana.

Only with the establishment of the Music School at the Philharmonic Society (1821–1919) did Slovenia acquire its first music school with a modern curriculum.
