Established in 1994, [[En-Knap Productions]] is a non-profit NGO for the organisation and realisation of cultural events. Primarily a producer of contemporary dance performances (see [[En-Knap Dance Group]] for more information about dance projects), it is also an active film and video producer with a filmography that includes Vrtoglavi ptič ('Vertigo Bird', 1996) and Dom Svobode ('House of Freedom', 2000), both directed by Sašo Podgoršek and featuring choreography by Iztok Kovač set in an industrial coal mining landscape. In 2002 En-knap produced the short film Krotilci časa ('Taming The Time'), directed by Dan Oki, who is a Croatian film and video artist from De Vrije Academie, den Haag.

As a member of the ''Aerowaves Network'', aimed at creating cross-border performance opportunities for emerging European choreographers, it organises the ''Import-Export'' international program, which brings acclaimed dance productions to Ljubljana on a monthly basis and has hosted names such as Julyen Hamilton, Wendy Houstoun, Steve Paxton, Jonathan Burrows and Matteo Fargion, DV8, etc. In 2011 it co-organised the inaugural Aerowaves Spring Forward Festival at the [[Španski borci Culture Centre]] in Ljubljana, which has evolved into a year-round festival ''Plesna Vesna'' (''Spring Forward''), which showcases young European dance, mainly drawing from the Aerowaves network open call applications.

En-Knap Productions, a non-profit institution for the organisation and realisation of cultural events, was established in 1994, a year after the establishment of the international dance group En-Knap by the choreographer and dancer Iztok Kovač. In 2007 En-Knap Productions established EnKnapGroup (EKG), the first permanent professional contemporary dance group in Slovenia, and since 2009 it manages also the multi-purpose Španski borci Culture Centre in Ljubljana.


Background

Since its beginnings, En-Knap Productions acted as the producer of dance performances by the international dance group En-Knap, which was founded in 1993 by Iztok Kovač in Leuven, Belgium under the wings of the production-managing house Stuc and the Klapstuk Festival, Belgium. The group immediately gained wide recognition abroad as well as at home, while Iztok Kovač received the Prešeren Foundation Award for the group's first performance Spread Your Wings (You Clumsy Elephant) (1993) and for his acclaimed solo How I Caught a Falcon (1991).
