Established in 1992, A Atalanta is an independent film, video and TV production company based in Ljubljana. Owner and representative Branislav Srdić manages the company and its sister companies in the former Yugoslavia (Croatia, Serbia, Monte Negro, Macedonia) in tandem with the director Miloš Srdić. The company is active in the production, co-production, services, and distribution of film, video, and commercials, as well as renting of equipment.


International co-operation and production

A Atalanta launched its feature film productions in 1996 with Čamčatka [Melitta], a TV film directed by Mitja Novljan. The short film Kratka himna domovini [A Short Hymn to the Home Country] (1999), directed by Boris Palčič, won the award for best short film at the International Film Festival in Gava, Spain, and at the International Film and Video Festival in Tebessa, Algeria, both in 2001. In 2000 the studio produced the feature film Lesi se vrača [Lassie Returns] (2000) by Jan Zakonjšek. The short film Zadnja želja [The Last Wish] by Petar Pašić was screened at the 6th Festival of Slovene Film in 2003. In 2006 A Atalanta participated at the EuroForum, Audiovisual Co-production Market in the framework of the 7th International Film Festival in Gran Canaria. In 2008 the film The Transition [Prehod] by Boris Palčič was produced.

Co-productions

A Atalanta has participated as a co-producer in several film and audiovisual projects. Recently, together with Testament films (Serbia) and Balkan Film (Bosnia and Herzegovina), it co-produced the film The Tour [Turneja] (2008), awarded at the Montreal World Film Festival 2008 for Best Director and Best Film (FIPRESCI). In 2009, in co-production with ZVVIKS, Institute for Film and Audiovisual Production, A Atalanta produced the animation series Mulc [THE KIDDO]. In 2010 it co-produced the feature film Lokalni vampir [Local Vampire] by Branko Baletić.
