The Slovenian Culture and Information Centre (SKICA) in Vienna was established in 2011 as a dislocated unit of the Embassy of Slovenia in Austria and based at the Slovene student house and cultural centre Korotan. The aim of the centre is to become a central forum and a representative of the arts and culture from Slovenia, to promote Slovenian artists, especially in Vienna, and to unite artist from the both side of the border.


Mission and objectives

Together with the help of the Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology the aim is to expand the existing Slovenian Cultural Centre at the Korotan and include several other initiatives: promote culture and art programme; multidisciplinary approach from all study fields and art disciplines; establish the library and a reading room and create a cultural education for children and youth.

One of the central aims of the centre is to establish a residence for artists, guests and scientists, similar to existing artist-in-residence programme conducted in Berlin, New York, London and Paris by the Slovenian Ministry of Culture.
