By and large, dance producers in Slovenia comprise independent artist-established private organisations, who work closely with festival organisers and various venues to present new contemporary dance works as well as festivals of contemporary dance on Slovenian stages.

Of the producers below, only a few – Bunker Institute, Dance Theatre Ljubljana and En-Knap Productions in Ljubljana, Celje Dance Forum and Plesna izba - Maribor Dance Room – also have their own venues, making them important co-producers.

Among the larger, public institutions who also produce and present dance we find Kino Šiška Centre for Urban Culture, Slovene National Theatre Maribor, Slovene National Theatre Opera and Ballet Ljubljana.

Many dance producers are also engaged in organising courses and workshops and publishing.

Fičo Balet is an artist-led NGO founded in 2000 by Goran Bogdanovski and a core group of artistic collaborators. Fičo Balet’s diverse (international) programme aims to explore and communicate the full range of the artistic and educational experience of dance by organising different community-based art projects.

Fičo Balet also provides an on-going, weekly training to "any body" interested in movement and dance and has been organising the international festival of contemporary dance.

Flota, a non-profit cultural institution for organising and producing cultural events, was established in 2001 by dancer/choreographer Matjaž Farič. Flota produces performances by choreographers of different generations, such as Matjaž Farič, Rosana Hribrar and Gregor Luštek, Tina Dobaj Eder and Milan Tomašik as well as younger generation choreographers Gašper Kunšek, Žigan Krajnčan, Jan Krmelj and Ana Cvelfar, among others.

Since 2006, Flota organises the Front@ Contemporary Dance Festival, based in Murska Sobota, thus contributing to the decentralisation of contemporary dance in Slovenia. Flota Institute has developed strong international partnerships through Beyond Front@ – a project and informal network twice-supported by the European Commission.
